The incredible and inspiring stories coming out of communities in Western North Carolina show us the best of what we can do when we work together. My father lives in the area and has been out in the middle of it every day for the last two weeks. His daily messages share stories of hope, heroism, grit and determination. They read like a love letter to his community and that is what this project is all about.
His stories really are beautiful (go humans!) but the devastation in Western North Carolina is extreme and it will take years for them to recover. We wanted to support their recovery by raising funds for a local organization that serves one of the hardest hit communities. Feeding Avery Families provides well over half of the food assistance in Avery County which was absolutely crushed by Helene. They’re going to need all the help they can get!
Please join me at the 2400 block of West Silver Lake Drive on Sunday, October 20th starting at 8am. I’ve sourced an exceptional coffee from Ecuador, produced by Ecuadorian National Champion producer Galo Morales (Taza Dorada). This is a unique varietal called mejorado that is a hybrid of Bourbon and Ethiopian Heirloom/Landrace. I’ll have espresso drinks (hot and cold), cold brew, pour overs and bags of coffee available. 100% of the proceeds will go to Feeding Avery Families!

Los Angeles Regional Food Bank 2024 | June 29th & 30th: 8am-1pm
The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank is an organization close to my heart and it was such a pleasure to host everyone who stopped by, had a cup of coffee and donated so generously to help support the mission of the LA Food Bank! It sure was hot and I’m glad we had lots of cold brew :)

Women’s History Month 2024 | March 23 & 24: 9am-2pm
We launched our coffee cart in March of 2023 with a fundraiser for the Downtown Women’s Center and we were so excited to do it again this year! The Downtown Women’s Center (DWC) envisions a Los Angeles with every woman housed and on a path to personal stability. Its mission is to end homelessness for women in greater Los Angeles through housing, wellness, employment, and advocacy.
Unfortunately the rains kept a lot of people away this year but with the support of some very generous members of the community we were able to cover our costs and have some money to donate to the center. A breakdown of the contributions is here.

Black History Month 2024 | February 17 & 18: 9am-2pm
We just completed our 2 day fundraiser for Sugar Heal in Los Angeles! The Sugar Heal Gang specializes in high-quality, culturally-competent holistic maternity services for Black & Indigenous families in Los Angeles, CA.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by, shared their stories and donated to a great cause while enjoying craft roasted specialty coffee with 100% of the profits going to Sugar Heal. We raised over $500 for a great, local community organization and I’m so grateful to everyone who participated!

Santé D’Or Foundation | Animal Adoption Center – 09/23/2023
Our one day pop-up fundraiser for Santé D’Or complete! Thanks to your contributions we raised almost $250 to donate to this wonderful animal rescue organization. This is a truly wonderful foundation doing great work in our community. Check them out here: Santé D’Or
Allesandro Elementary School | For the Teachers – 09/02/2023
Our Labor Day weekend, one day pop-up fundraiser is complete! Thanks to your contributions we raised $275 to distribute to the teachers at one of our local elementary schools here in Silver Lake. Each of the 16 teachers will receive a $20 gift card to Target so that they can spend a little less of their own money on supplies for their classrooms :)
PRIDE Month 🏳️🌈 | June 2023
Our June fundraiser in honor of PRIDE Month is complete! We served hundreds of drinks between pour-overs, espresso drinks and cold brew and raised $1,900 ($950 each for the LA LGBT Center and the Point Foundation). A breakdown of the donations is here.
